VISUAL IDENTITY DESIGN BRAND COLLATERAL DESIGN
Year
2025
At the heart of Rèfainì is transformation. The brand treats jewelry as a living, evolving form. Each sculptural piece exists beyond adornment, acting instead as a marker of refinement. Inspired by the biological process of metamorphosis, Rèfainì’s creations embody the beauty that emerges through pressure and patience.
The visual identity for Rèfainì was developed by Atelier Jovae. It is built around the concept of the shape of metamorphosis. Drawing from the language of transformation and vintage handwritten monograms, the submark was designed as a fluid emblem that captures movement, evolution, and continuity. Its form suggests a mark in transition, an identity that feels alive.
Our Approach
Atelier Jovae was brought on by a strategy partner to translate the idea of “The Shape of Metamorphosis” into a visual identity system that could hold both the conceptual depth and the sculptural nature of the brand.
Our work focused on interpreting transformation beyond the mood board, not as a theme, but as a structure, something that could be seen through form, rhythm, and restraint across every element of the identity.

The Rèfainì greens were introduced by Jovae as the anchor tone of the system. The wordmark is a customized serif designed to complement the submark. Together, the two elements operate in harmony, standing hand in hand to form a cohesive visual system that reflects the brand’s refined and sculptural DNA.

The submark became the most distilled expression of the identity.
Instead of approaching it as an ornamental addition, through research of old hand lettering and vintage monograms, the Jovae team developed a monogram-led system, ensuring the mark remained rooted in the name while allowing space for abstraction.
At its center is a sculpted “R”, treated as a physical form. It is intentionally weighted and considered, acting as the core from which the entire symbol evolves. This “R” is held within a cocoon-like structure, a form that suggests containment, pressure, and incubation. The shape is deliberately designed to represent a cocoon, a nod to the strategy concept the visual identity is built on. Within this tension, there is a subtle sense of emergence: a butterfly in repose, suggested rather than depicted. The relationship between the inner monogram and the outer form creates a dual reading: identity and transformation existing simultaneously within one contained system.
